Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has announced that his administration has completed approximately 25 road projects within the capital city of Makurdi.
The governor shared this information through his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Terso, after a recent tour with journalists to showcase some of the projects undertaken by his administration.
Among the ongoing projects visited were the Benue Food Basket Brewery located on Gboko Road, the dualization of Ishaya Bakut Road, the underpass at High-level, and the Benfruit and Benval Juice Factories situated in the Industrial Layout of Makurdi. Additionally, several roads within the Makurdi metropolis have been completed.
The chief press secretary revealed that the current administration is overseeing the construction of no fewer than 390 kilometers of rural and urban roads across the state.
He stated that the ongoing development projects are a testament to the governor’s commitment to providing effective leadership and prudent resource management.
Furthermore, the Chief Press Secretary emphasised that every local government area in the state has been earmarked for road development, and in addition to the renovations of public schools and the provision of potable water, there are other substantial facilities being developed by the governor.
He said, “In addition to the road construction and underpass, you can see that the Benue Food Basket Brewery is almost 90% completed, the Benfruit and Benval Juice Factories have been revived and about to commence production.
“The governor is getting resources from the federation account and also getting donations from here and there. Those funds are being managed very well. He is determined to develop the State, and he has blocked the revenue leakage from our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). He has increased it to certain percentage.
“The 16 township roads within Makurdi that were flagged off for construction by the governor in his first year have been completed. The governor has also flagged off construction of additional 25 roads within the metropolitan, some of them have been completed already”, Kula said.
The plant manager of Benue Food Basket Brewery, Engr. Emmanuel Adobe, who conducted members of the correspondents round the premises, where some equipment was seen being installed, explained that all the necessary equipment for the takeover of the factory have arrived and was being installed.
He said that the whole installation will take about 3 months.
“Every equipment is on site. Once we commence production, we can produce 2000 to 2500 cases per day if we are producing 60cl.
“Overall, beer capacity in Nigeria is over 250 million per year. The BFB factory is well-positioned for beer markets in Nigeria. There is no beer factory in Taraba, Nasarawa, Abuja, and so, it will move market if it is well managed”, Adoke said.
