A Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Damilare Abioro, has advised Youths in Nigeria to shun social vices in their aspirations to achieve their ambitions in life.
This is coming on the heels of rising cases of youth involvement in various criminal activities such as cultism, ritual killings, drug peddling, among others.
Abioro, who made the call while addressing newsmen at Agosasa, in the Ipokia Local government area of Ogun State on Wednesday said every youth can realise his or her dreams without getting involved in any shady or criminal activities.
The former Ogun West NNPP Senatorial aspirant explained that the youths who are complaining of bad leadership from the old politicians at the helm of affairs of the country must be upright and of high integrity.
The young politician added that the ugly trend of negative activities involving the youth is a major setback for their quest to wrestle power from the old politicians in the country.
According to him, some of the youths have equally turned themselves into useful machinery in the hands of their oppressors who failed to make the country habitable for them to thrive despite the abundance of human and natural resources at their disposal.
“With due and humble respect, it is high time the Nigerian youths take up the leadership of our great nation Nigeria.
“According to my discovery, God has really blessed Nigeria but certain groups of people have taken over the affairs of leadership and governance as a family business and it is high time the youths stand for the sake of their future in the country,” Abioro stated.
Abioro asked the youths to rethink and jettison all forms of social vices and quick rich syndrome and channel their energy and resources towards rescuing the country for their sake as they had demonstrated during the ENDSARS protest and 2023 general elections.
Meanwhile, Abioro in his reaction to the recent comment made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the failure of democracy in Nigeria and other countries in Africa, asked youths, especially young politicians not to despair over the shortcomings of the adopted system of government.
Instead, he urged them to actively participate in politics in order to address the anomalies preventing democracy from thriving in Nigeria, insisting that the system remains the best form of governance.
