Big Brother Naija Season 9 contestant Chinwe has proposed a change to the show’s eviction process, suggesting that the power to evict housemates should be removed from both the custodians and the housemates themselves.
Currently, the winning pair of the custodian challenge has considerable influence over nominations and evictions, and sometimes, housemates not in the bottom four can vote on which pair to evict.
Chinwe expressed her concerns during a conversation with a fellow housemate, stating that the current method restricts housemates from freely expressing themselves due to the fear of eviction by their peers.
She remarked, “There’s too much power in this house, so people cannot actually speak their minds… The fact that we have to even walk in there [Diary room] to decide people’s fate is enough to calm you down.”
She believes that this dynamic creates an atmosphere where housemates are hesitant to “talk their talk” for fear of stepping on toes, leading to other housemates potentially ganging up against them.
“Do you understand? Biggie should scrap that method. Talk your talk. The fact that we have to decide people’s fate, you wouldn’t want to step on toes to avoid other housemates ganging up against you,” she said.
This discussion comes in the wake of the recent eviction, where the custodians, Streeze, sent the Ndi Nnne pair packing. Ndi Nnne, the duo of Chinne and Nne, became the second pair to be evicted in the intense BBNaija ‘No Loose Guard’ season, leaving the house shocked by their abrupt departure.
