Bayelsa twin explosion not connected to inter-party rivalry ― Bayelsa CP

The twin explosion that hit the residences of two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains in Yenagoa and Brass local government areas, has nothing to do with inter-political rivalry, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Uche Anozia, has said.

Speaking during a meeting with political party chairmen at the Police Officers Mess in Yenagoa, CP Anoxia, said his findings revealed that the incident at one of the residences was exacerbated and that people were raising alarm for nothing.

He said investigations are on and that the perpetrators and sponsors of the act would be brought to book, saying the police is prepared to ensure the security of lives and properties during and after the primaries of all the political parties taking part in the forthcoming November 16 governorship election.

The PDP stalwarts, whose houses were said to have been attacked are the member representing Yenagoa Constituency 1 in the State House of Assembly, Obuku Oforji and the Executive Chairman of Brass LGA, Victor Isaiah.
The police boss explained that he personally went to the scene of the reported explosion, though one looks like there was an explosion but the other appeared nothing happened, saying it seems like a ploy by politicians to heat up the polity.

The commissioner, however, urged leaders of political parties to ensure they don’t engage in political activities that will lead to violence, noting that the only reason violence erupts during political exercises is because politicians engaged thugs who have different clash of interest.

“Why we call you all is to tell you what you already know, political exercises are always full of violence because we don’t handle it with care and caution. Politicians have thugs who cause violence because of their clash of interest, don’t conduct yourselves in a manner that will cause violence but if by accident it happens the law will take its full course.

“We all know that violence doesn’t lead to anything positive but negative things if there is no violence the exercise will go smooth.”
