Bayelsa State Government has flagged off the construction of a nine-storey civil servants secretariat in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The project, valued at N46 billion, is expected to provide a modern and conducive workplace environment for public servants.
The groundbreaking ceremony was performed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dame Didi Walson-Jack, who commended the state government for its commitment to strengthening the institutional framework that underpins governance and service delivery.
According to Governor Douye Diri, the new secretariat will be an electronic secretariat, equipped with a solar power-backed system, conference halls, a six-bed sick bay, and a crèche to support working families.
The project is expected to be completed within 30 months, and the contract has been awarded to Megastar Limited. The state government has already paid 50% of the project cost.
The new secretariat is seen as a significant investment in the state’s infrastructure and a boost to the morale of civil servants in the state.
