Ambassador Saddique Baba Abubakar, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections in Bauchi State, has expressed his full support for all APC candidates in the upcoming local government elections on Saturday.
This is in response to speculation regarding his absence at the party’s campaign flag-off last week.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday, he said, “Yes, I was not at the flagging off of campaigns for the LGA elections by the APC last week, but I sent a powerful delegation with a message of support for all the APC candidates.”
Explaining his absence, he stated, “I could not attend the rally because we were in Giade receiving sympathizers over the death of our late elder statesman, Yerima Giade Ajiya.
Due to our close relationship, I needed to stay with the family until they returned to Bauchi. I only came back to Bauchi on Sunday after the program.”
He added, “Alhamdulillahi, although I was not there physically, I was there in spirit because it is a people’s event, a demonstration of our commitment to the people.”
Further emphasizing his support, he said, “I have two messages, first, for the candidates. I pray that God will see them through and grant all APC candidates victory at the polls, both in the chairmanship and councillorship races.”

“After winning, may God grant them the grace to be fair to all and lead the people well. Winning an election is one thing, but the ability to discharge responsibilities effectively after victory is a very big task,” he stressed.
Saddique Abubakar also addressed APC supporters and members, urging them to participate in the election by casting their ballots for all APC candidates, both chairmen and councillors.
He appealed for peaceful conduct before, during, and after the elections.
He stated, “APC is a party that builds, not a destructive party; therefore, we want a peaceful process. I urge everyone not to betray the candidates and the APC.
They should avoid selling out votes against the APC and its candidates.”
He emphasized that every betrayer lives to regret their actions, noting that if God is displeased with an act of betrayal, the betrayer will also suffer the consequences.
Saddique Abubakar then extended his condolences to the people of Bauchi State and Nigeria over the death of Yerima Aliyu Giade, praying for the repose of his soul.
