The Chairperson of Shira Local Government Council of Bauchi, Hon. Abdullahi Beli, and his Deputy have been removed from office by the Councillors due to alleged mismanagement of funds and lack of administrative ability.
The removal was announced at the Council Secretariat in Yana, following an impromptu meeting convened by the Councillors.
This decision aligns with the Local Government Autonomy granted by the Supreme Court.
According to the Leader of the Councilors, Wali Adamu, the sacked Chairperson was given a one-month warning to correct his actions but failed to do so. Adamu will take charge of the Council’s affairs pending the State House of Assembly’s decision, ensuring no vacuum in administration.
The Secretariat has been deserted by workers, who are awaiting further directives from officials. Efforts to reach the removed Chairperson and Deputy for their reaction were unsuccessful, as their phone lines were unavailable.
