The Boi Progressive Association (BPA) in Bogoro LGA of Bauchi State has categorically dissociated itself and any of its members from an Ex-Soldier recently arrested for alleged gùn running business.
The Association in a Press Statement titled: ‘Public Disclaimer: Ex-Soldier Involved in Illegal Firearms Trading’ stated that neither it nor any of its members have any affiliation with the Ex-Soldier Involved in Illegal Firearms Trading.
According to Chief Philemon Kichime,
President, Boi Progressive Association (BPA), “It has come to our attention that some individuals may mistakenly associate this criminal activity with our Community Association. We would like to clarify and emphasize the following points:”
The BPA President stated, “Disassociation from the Ex-Soldier: The Boi Progressive Association categorically disassociates itself from the aforementioned ex-soldier who was apprehended for engaging in illegal firearms trading. The individual’s actions are solely his own, and he does not represent the values, principles, or activities of our association.”
He explained the role of BPA Youths in Apprehension stating that, “Contrary to any misperceptions, it is important to highlight that the Boi Progressive Association Youth Wing actively played a role in the capture of the ex-soldier engaging in illegal firearms trading.”
According to him, “Our Association, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, provided information and assistance that led to the successful apprehension of the criminal in question. We commend the bravery and commitment of our BPA youths who actively contributed to ensuring the safety and security of our community.”
“Non-Resident Criminal: It is imperative to note that the individual apprehended for illegal firearms trading was merely passing through our community. He is not a resident of the Boi community, nor does he have any affiliation with our association,” he explained.
Chief Philemon Kichime added, “We are committed to maintaining a safe and law-abiding environment for all residents and visitors, and this incident should not be misconstrued to reflect negatively on the Boi community as a whole.”
The BPA President concluded stating that, “The Boi Progressive Association condemns any form of illegal activities, including the trading of firearms. We are dedicated to fostering a strong, united, and law-abiding community.”
“We urge all community members to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, and continue working together to create a safe environment for everyone,” he called.
