Bauchi State Government has categorically refuted claims trending in social media that it has dissolved the State Scholarship Board and stopped payment of bursary to its students studying in the various high schools within and outside the country.
The refusal was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, made available to Journalists in Bauchi on Thursday.
The statement contained that, “Government wishes to clarify a statement circulating in the social media, purportedly signed by the Media Adviser to His Excellency, the Governor, suggesting the dissolution of the Bauchi State Scholarship Board.”
“The statement further claims that the dissolution is due to the government’s inability to continue providing scholarships to students as a result of economic hardship and lack of federal allocation,” he added.
“We hereby state that this information is completely false and does not reflect the position of the Bauchi State Government. At no point did the government issue any directive to dissolve the Scholarship Board or halt the provision of scholarships to deserving students,” the statement further contained.
According to him, “The administration remains committed to its priority of supporting education and the welfare of students across the state.”
The Governor’s Media Aide explained, “Despite the economic challenges faced by the country, the Bauchi State Government has consistently prioritized education, knowing its significance to the future of our state. We reaffirm that the state scholarship scheme remains active, and government will ensure that scholarships are paid on time.”
“Government urges the general public, particularly students and parents, to disregard the purported statement. Any official communication from the Bauchi State Government will be duly released through recognized channels and verified authorities,” Mukhtar Gidado stressed.
He assured, “Bauchi State government under the inspirational leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed is committed to fostering transparency, accountability, and the development of education in Bauchi.”
