A Principal Assistant Education Officer attached to Government College, Azare, in Bauchi State, Amos Joshua, has been dismissed from the services of Bauchi State Government for alleged sexual harassment.
The offence is categorised as a serious misconduct that contradicts Rules 0327 (xxviii and xxix) of sexual harassment in the Bauchi State Public Service Rules.
Consequently, the officer was dismissed by the state civil service commission as considered during its 32nd plenary session held on Thursday at its conference hall.
The disciplinary action was taken against the officer after general disciplinary procedures had been exhausted as contained in Rules 0317 of the Public Service Rules and Regulations.
In another development the Commission during the sitting considered the promotion of 2 Deputy Directors on acting capacity as Directors of Physical Planning and Development Control on Grade levels 16.
Similarly, Chief Physical Planning Officer was moved to acting capacity as Deputy Director Physical Planning on grade level 15.
In the same vein 80 Nursing Officers, Nursing Superintendents among others promoted to their next grades of 10, 12, 13 and grade levels 14.
The submission deliberated on was a recommendations from the Bauchi State Special School Management Board, State Public Procurement and Physical Development Board and Health Management Board.
The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Alhaji Muhammad, in his remarks confirmed that disciplinary proceedings were carried out against Amos, was in line with the Commission’s established regulations.
He emphasized that due process was strictly followed, noting that the commission remains committed to fairness and transparency in handling Staff Matters.
He maintained that the decision taken against Amos, was not punitive but to uphold discipline and integrity in the service and added that the decision serves as a reminder to all civil servants that professional conduct and adherence.
