This was disclosed by Governor’s Wife on Saturday at the occasion to mark the 2018 International Day of the Girl Child held at Government Girls College, Azare, Katagum local government of the state explaining that the gesture was aimed at expanding learning opportunities to girls especially the less privileged ones among them.
She, however, lamented that there are over 13.5 million out of school children in the world at present calling on corporate organisations and wealthy individuals to sponsor out of school girls to schools in their societies with a view to reducing poverty and number of uneducated children in Nigeria.

“As the founder of the ‘Brilliant Girl Child Initiative’ (BGCI), I am calling on the good women, mothers and even fathers to look at what really count for a girl to progress and achieve her full potential in life. Basically, we need to put our hands together to provide quality Education to Girls and retain them in School”, she pleaded.
Aisha Abubakar who appealed to stakeholders to support girls to enable them have good information on health, hygiene, sanitation and reproductive health, also advocated penalty for sexual, physical violence against girls, child labour and trafficking.
The Governor’s wife also donated sanitary pads, bathing soaps, detergents, toilet papers and plasma television sets to the GGC Azare, GGSS Sakwa and GGCS Yana at the end of the program.
