Bauchi governor gives matching orders to security to end youth banditry

Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has charged security agencies and parents in state to rise up and nip in the bud the increase in youth banditry, which is threatening the relative peace being enjoyed across the state since 2015 when the APC led administration came on board.
The charge was contained in a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique, stating that the Governor gave the charge on Thursday while receiving the newly posted Commander, 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Brigadier-General Durowaye who paid him a courtesy call at Government House.
The Governor while expressing his disturbance by the activities of miscreants in many parts of state in recent times lamented that youth banditry, otherwise known as ‘Sara-Suka’, which was put under check in the last four years, as no major upheaval was witnessed, lamented that with the declaration of the results of the 2019 elections there have been threats to peace from the miscreants.
He said that, Bauchi State Government under his watch has set for itself a target of bringing peace and security to the state, resulting in efficient security architecture that works in the state, engendering peace and security from his assumption of office in 2015.
The Governor according to the release  therefore charged security agencies and parents to wake up and maintain the peace in Bauchi state that has been attracting people from other parts of the northeast by taming the rising cases of youth banditry.
The newly posted Commander, 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Brigadier-General Durowaiye, who commended the Governor for investing heavily in the promotion of security assured the Governor of his readiness to work with other security agencies to deal with all criminal activities in the state.
General Durowaiye reiterated that security of life and property must be accorded priority as religion and tribe not considered in security and military matters.
The General who assured of Army’s contributions to the promotion of security, which guarantees economic development, said that  by military training, “we obey orders of the President and Commander-in-Chief, as championed by the Chief of Army Staff, General Buratai.”
