Bauchi gov flags off drilling campaign by Cement company

Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Tuesday performed the official groundbreaking ceremony of the drilling campaign by Resident Cement Company in Diji Village, Gwana District of Alkaleri LGA of the State.

It was a moment of excitement for the people of the area, who could not hide their joy and happiness over the development they had agitated for all these years, having discovered that they were blessed with abundant mineral resources.

The drilling campaign of the Resident Cement Company is part of the partnership with relevant stakeholders in unbundling and harnessing the solid minerals subsector for economic growth and development of the state.

Bala Mohammed told the gathering while performing the groundbreaking that the state, which is well blessed with rich minerals and natural resources, is open for investment and businesses under his governance.

He stressed that the aim is to effectively utilise such opportunities of availability of the resources for rapid socio-economic growth and development of the state and its people for job creation and youth employment and empowerment.

The Governor appreciated Resident Cement Company and other partners for agreeing to invest in the state, assuring them that their huge investment and security are guaranteed, stressing that the state and its people are the main beneficiaries of the project.

He further assured the investors that the people of the area are ready to defend and protect the investments, urging the investors to feel safe and secure in their operations.

In his remarks, the Group Chairman of Resident Cement Company Ltd, Dr Abbas Waziri Junaid, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for creating an enabling environment for the company to invest hugely in the state.

He also stated that the company is ready to invest in more projects in the state in order to drive public-private partnerships for sustainable growth, development, and economic stability.

Also speaking, Director General, National Steel Raw Material Exploration Agency, Kaduna, Engineer Michael Olawale Ogunbiyi, lauded the decision of Governor Bala Mohammed to partner with Resident Cement Company Ltd and other partners in exploring the rich solid minerals that abound in the state for economic diversification, job creation, and youth empowerment, among others.

State Commissioner of Natural Resources Development, Mohammed Maiwada A. Bello, had earlier stated that the successful commencement of the drilling campaign marked significant progress and a milestone towards unbundling Bauchi State.

He stressed that under Governor Bala Mohammed, the solid minerals subsector in the state is faring well as a means of economic diversification, sustainable growth, and development.

Alh Inuwa Bello, Member representing Duguri/Gwana in the State Assembly, as well as the Executive Chairperson of Alkaleri LGC, commended the Governor for the gigantic move that will open up the area in terms of infrastructural development.

The Emir of Bauchi, Alh Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, commended the development, saying that it will further uplift the Bauchi Emirate and provide sources of revenue generation for the people.
