The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, has charged traditional rulers in Ogbomoso and its environs to work in synergy in order to develop the zone, warning that fighting supremacy battles among themselves would pose development challenges.
Oba Alao, in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, revealed that the role of traditional rulers could not be underestimated in the development drive of the zone.
He advised them to chart a path that would bring development to the zone, adding that promotion of disunity would not help in the issues of development.

He said, “I, the Olugbon, will not want to dwell on supremacy issuesand hierarchy. The history is there and I don’t want to revisit it. What is important is that we, the kings as custodians of history, need to work in synergy to develop Ogbomoso zone so that it can be reckoned with in the scheme of things in the state, the nation and the global arena. The development of Ogbomoso zone transcends any form of supremacy battle among us.”
The traditional ruler noted that Ogbomoso is blessed in terms of human resources, entrepreneurship and business, noting that these could be harnessed to project Ogbomoso agenda which would, in turn, facilitate more development to the zone.
He stated further that traditional rulers, as a body, should work with well-meaning indigenes of the zone and government at all levels to put in place facilities that would endear investors to the zone.
Oba Alao added that, “We must not work in isolation; we all must all work with well-meaning indigenes, sociocultural and youth organisations within the zone and devise strategies that will help our drive. How can we progress if we don’t work in synergy, knowing full well that all sections are important when it comes to issues of development?”
