Aviation College: Zaria Hotels to be converted as classrooms, hostels — Keyamo

The Federal Government has announced plans to convert Zaria Hotels in Kaduna State into classrooms and hostels for the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria.

This development was disclosed by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo during a press briefing in Zaria on Wednesday.

Keyamo, who was in Zaria for a familiarization tour of NCAT, revealed that the acquisition of Zaria Hotels aims to enhance the institution’s capacity for growth and expansion.

“The landmass we have here is enough for expansion, so the potential for the college, in terms of expansion, is great,” he said.

The minister emphasized NCAT’s standing as a premier institution for aviation training in Nigeria and West Africa.

“NCAT remains the best institution for the aviation industry in Nigeria and West Africa,” he stated.

Keyamo highlighted the significance of the newly acquired facility, saying, “In spite of that, we have also acquired Zaria Hotels as an annexure to the college. We want to add to the facilities on the ground.”

Addressing concerns about potential relocation of the college’s fire simulator and other facilities, Keyamo dismissed such reports as unfounded rumours.

“There is nothing like that; if we do it, where are we going to take it to? NCAT is the training hub for the aviation industry; the rumour is being spread by mischief makers,” he assured.

Mr. Joseph Imalighwe, Acting Rector of NCAT, expressed gratitude to the minister for his visit and ongoing support for the college.

“This visit is a testament to the government’s recognition of the critical role NCAT plays in the aviation sector.

“We are encouraged by the Minister’s support and look forward to further advancements in our training capabilities,” said Mr Imalighwe.
