Auto crash claims six lives in Bauchi

Tragedy struck on Saturday when a ghastly automobile accident claimed the lives of six people who are said to be related and from the same town, Dass, headquarters of Dass LGA of Bauchi State.

A reliable source of information told our reporter that the accident occurred along Dass-Bauchi road in Bayara, a suburbs of Bauchi metropolis which is about 10km away saying that the victims were on their way to Bauchi from Dass when the accident happened.

The source narrated that the accident happened when the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and veered off the highway into a ditch claiming their lives on the spot.

Their dead bodies were buried in Dass on Sunday after the funeral prayers that was held in front of the Palace of the Emir of Dass with hundreds of people in attendance in accordance with Islamic injunctions.

In a condolence message, Caretaker Chairman of Bogoro LGA, Illiya Habila wrote that “I send my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, government and people of Dass Local Government Area on the death of these illustrious sons at Bayara, who were travelling from Bauchi town to Dass on Saturday evening. May Allah grant them Aljanna Firdausi.”

In her own condolence message, the Director-General of the SDGs, Maryam Garba Bagel wrote that “My heartfelt condolences to the entire people of my LGA (DASS), Over the lost of 6 persons in a ghastly motor accident on their way home from Bauchi. May Allah grant them peace.”

All efforts to get confirmation of the accident from the State Sector Command of the FRSC proved abortive as calls put through to the number of the Head of Operations did not connect as at the time of filing this report.
