The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Agency (Task Force) has apprehended four suspects linked to the August 13, 2024 attack on a BRT bus traveling from Orile-Iganmu to Alaba Suuru on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olusola Oyewole, Operations in the state, made this announcement on Wednesday while addressing newsmen at the Task Force yard in Oshodi.
He noted that the Task Force acted promptly on the same day as the incident, arresting Mohammed Alli, 30, and three others, while some suspects remain at large.
Oyewole condemned the attack in its entirety, stating that the suspects would be charged in court. He also warned individuals with criminal intentions in the state to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
The police chief disclosed that the attack was carried out by a seven-man gang and others, who allegedly vandalized the BRT bus, attacked passengers, maimed them, and robbed them of their valuables.
According to Oyewole, the offence committed in broad daylight is highly condemnable. He vowed that the suspects would be prosecuted accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others.
