Assembly polls: INEC presents Certificates Of Return to 30 Anambra lawmakers-elect

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has presented certificates of return to thirty Anambra Assembly Lawmakers-elect in the just concluded March 18th, 2023 general elections.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, presented the certificates at INEC state headquarters, Awka, on Friday.
Accepting the CoR, the Lawmakers- elect, pledges to run an all-inclusive and open-door lawmaking in the 8th Assembly.
In their separate remarks, Comrade Nigeria Henry Mbachu (LP Awka 1), Chukwuma Okoye (Awka 2 APGA), Lady Nkechi Ogbuifi (Anaocha 1 LP), Ekenna Ofodeme (Ekwusigo APGA), Barr. Ebuka Igwe (Idemili South APGA), Somtochukwu Udeze (Ogbaru 2 PDP) and Chidi Ibemeka (Njikoka 1 APGA), promised to work with the state governor, Chukwuma Soludo, to achieve his vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous State in Nigeria.
Earlier, in her remarks, the REC in the state, Dr. Agwu, said that the presentation of the certificates of return was part of the electoral process guaranteed by the law.
“Presentation of certificate of return is an aspect of the electoral process guaranteed by law; a certificate of return issued by the INEC is evidence and authority that shows that one has been duly elected in an election conducted by the commission.
“Hence, it is one of the constitutional requirements in the electoral process.
“We shall, today, be presenting the certificate of return to the 30 members-elect of the State House of Assembly,”
According to her, the assembly comprises 30 state constituencies with APGA winning 16 seats, LP 7, PDP 4 and YPP 3 seats,
The Transition Committee Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Hon. Chimezie Obi and a Chieftain of APGA, Chief Jude Emecheta, on their part, called on the lawmakers-elect from various political parties to eschew party differences and team up with governor Soludo, to build a better and greater Anambra.
They commended INEC, the security agencies, and the state government for ensuring a free, fair and credible election, especially, in Anambra South Senatorial District were there have been challenges of unknown gunmen activities in the area.
