Reverend Father Charles Acheneje, SMA (middle) with the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of St. Leo’s Parish, Orita-Challenge, Ibadan, at the march to protest against insecurity in Nigeria, last Sunday.

The Christian Women Organisation (CWO), St. Leo’s Parish, Orita-Challenge, Ibadan, on May 13, 2018, organised a peaceful march around the church premises to protest against insecurity in the country.

Led by Reverend Fr Charles Acheneje, SMA, and the president of the parish CWO, Mrs Mary Afekhena, the protest formed part of its activities for the Mothers’ Day celebration last Sunday.

Carrying placards, some of which read: ‘Peace in Nigeria;’ ‘Our Security Should Be Strengthened;’ ‘Our Priests Died As Martyrs,’ among others, according to the organisation, the protest was “to protest against the killings of priests and worshippers during a mass in Benue State.”

The Mothers’ Day celebration also featured members of the CWO acting as lay readers, members of the choir, as well as church wardens.
