The 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, the headquarters of Doma local government area of Nasarawa State, has issued a stern warning to kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements in Benue State, urging them to vacate the state or face decisive action by the Armed Forces and other security agencies.
The Commander of the 4 Special Forces (SF) Command, Major General Hilary Nzan, conveyed this message during the flag-off ceremony of Exercise Enduring Peace III at Tyodugh, Agan Council Ward of Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The statement was signed by Major Joseph Adekunle Afolashade, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 4 Special Forces Command, and made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Lafia, the state capital, on Wednesday.
General Nzan reiterated that kidnappers, armed robbers, cattle rustlers, recalcitrant herders, and farmers should reconsider engaging in any activities that violate the law.
“Vacate Benue State, or the Nigerian Army and other security agencies will go after you and crush you,” warned General Nzan.
The statement, in part, added, “I can assure you that the military and other security agencies participating in this exercise will hunt you down wherever you hide, and they will crush you mercilessly.
“Enough is enough for all you criminals, as peace is not negotiable in Benue. Consider yourselves warned,” he added.
He maintained that the operations were aimed at checking various skirmishes and criminalities within the state, especially as the yuletide season approached.
Earlier, the Commander of the 401 Brigade, Brigadier General Alamin Rabiu, revealed that the exercise was intended to address the various security challenges facing Benue and, by extension, the entire nation.
The commander further disclosed that the brigade had carried out adequate preparations and planning to ensure success, culminating in the demonstration of capabilities, firepower, and intense cooperation between the brigade and other security agencies within the state.
He also urged the participating troops to maintain a high level of proficiency and effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
