American multinational corporation and technology company, Apple has finally rolled out the iPhone 17 line-up alongside new AirPods and smartwatches, signalling a major product refresh ahead of the holiday shopping season.
The unveiling took place on Tuesday at the company’s Cupertino, California headquarters in the United States.
The tech giant kept pricing similar to last year but removed the 128 GB storage option from its iPhone range.
The standout announcement was the iPhone 17 Air, Apple’s thinnest phone yet at just 5.6 millimeters. The model, which costs $999, will be available from September 19 in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold and Sky Blue.
Sitting between the standard and Pro versions, the Air introduces a new premium tier to Apple’s smartphone portfolio. It runs on the same A19 Pro chip as the Pro models, with the N1 networking chip and C1X modem, and supports only eSIM. Apple described the Air as offering “MacBook Pro levels of compute in an iPhone.”
The standard iPhone 17 brings a 6.3-inch screen and introduces the 120-hertz ProMotion display to non-Pro devices for the first time. It comes with the new A19 processor, tailored for on-device AI tasks, and starts at 256 GB of storage. A 48-megapixel rear camera and an improved front camera with “Center Stage” AI framing are also included.
The iPhone 17 Pro, priced from $1,099, also arrives with a Pro Max option offering up to 2 terabytes of storage. Built with a new aluminium unibody and plateau-style back for its cameras, the Pro features liquid cooling for the first time in an iPhone, using a vapor chamber with de-ionized water.
According to Reuters, it comes with a ceramic shield back, extended battery life and an upgraded 48-megapixel system on all three rear lenses, as well as an AI-powered “Center Stage” front camera.
Apple’s latest AirPods, the Pro 3, are priced at $249 and will be available from September 19. They feature enhanced noise cancellation and Apple Intelligence–powered live translation that activates with a gesture.
The design is smaller, with new foam eartips, while workouts can now be tracked through built-in heart-rate sensing. Battery life is rated at up to eight hours with noise cancellation enabled.
The smartwatch line-up was also refreshed, with the Series 11 at $399, the SE 3 at $249, and the Ultra 3 at $799. Health and safety updates include a hypertension alert on the Series 11 and satellite connectivity on the Ultra 3.
However, Apple confirmed the hypertension feature has not yet been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
