APDA charges Bello on Kogi workers’ plight

THE Kogi State Chairman of Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Abdulmumini Ibrahim, on Monday, asked the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to urgently address the plight of workers for the growth and development of the state.

He said the incessant strike actions by the workers since the inception of this administration was a bad omen for the state.

Speaking newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital, ‎Ibrahim regretted that industrial action embarked upon by civil servants which have grounded the state had affected social and economic lives of the people since the state is a civil service state.

He said, “Kogi State is yearning for positive development which was the drive of All Progressives Congress, (APC) as a party before the electorates overwhelmingly voted the party into power in 2015 and should sustain the confidence reposed on the party’s philosophy human beings.”

The ADPA chairman urged the state government to search diligently to see if the screening exercise was real with a view to reducing the wage bill, explaining that if genuine efforts were applied there would be no crisis.

He, however, called on organised labour leaders to dialogue because of the poor masses, who they intend to defend.

While symathising with the state government over the flood disaster that was said to have ravaged and affected over 10, 000 people who were alleged to be in the Internally Displaced Persons’ Camp, Ibrahim, however, called on the state government to show the world where the camps are for quick intervention from concerned individuals.

Abdul, who was reacting to the governor’s  that about 10, 000 people were in IDP camps in Kogi stressed that the governor should be magnanimous with matter that has direct impact on the people by showing National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) the IDP, to attract attention for governments’ intervention, noting that the IDP should not be a hidden place.

He urged the Federal Government to open up the river banks by dredging‎ the water for economic and transportation values, pointing out that such move would checkmate flooding in the country.
