APC’ll win Anambra poll without rigging, says Nwoye

Tony Nwoye

THE governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 18 Anambra election, Dr Tony Nwoye has assured that the party would win the poll without rigging, saying APC has what it takes to unseat the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano.

Nwoye gave the assurance at the weekend while addressing party faithful at a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, saying it is only those who were not sure of victory that resort to rigging.

“Rigging is not possible in this election. Votes must count. One man one vote. APC will win this election convincingly and at all cost. APGA would be the complainant while APC would be the defendant after the election.” he stated.

He condemned the propaganda being peddled by the ruling party in the state by branding APC a northern party, insisting that none of the party stalwarts in the state were strangers, but indigenes.

He said his entrance into the race was to eradicate poverty and solve other problems created by the previous administrations.

While thanking the party faithful for keeping faith with the party amidst challenges, Nwoye appealed to aggrieved members of the party to sheathe their swords and join hands to ensure victory at the poll.

He also urged party supporters not to create enmity especially with those who supported other aspirants during the party primary,  noting that there were no incidents of violence during the exercise.

“Party members should aggressively work in their various wards, while the ward chairmen should also ensure they contribute their quota to guarantee victory at the center.” he added.

Earlier, the State party chairman, Bar. Emeka Ibe said the meeting, the first since after the primary,  was convened to present the party flagbearer and his running mate to members and to intensity the journey to take over government house.

He disclosed that the recently inaugurated reconciliation committee to calm the aggrieved members occasioned by the outcome of the party primaries was expected to submit its report to the party leadership by Tuesday.

Ibe also used the occasion to welcome defectors from other political parties into APC, assuring that newcomers would enjoy the same status and treated on an equal basis in the party.
