The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Misa Musa Jauro of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ganye state constituency by-election in Adamawa State.
The Returning Officer, Professor Tukur Ahmed, while declaring Musa Jauro the winner, said the APC candidate polled a total of 15,923 votes to defeat his closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who scored 15,794 votes.
The election, which was closely contested, was held across all 10 wards and has been described as one of the most competitive elections in recent times. With APC and PDP recording split victories in different wards, the APC candidate pulled a slim margin of 129 votes to emerge the winner.
With this outcome, Jauro has been declared duly elected, sealing APC’s victory in the high-stakes poll.
Jauro, who is the elder brother of the late member, also contested and secured the victory on the platform of the same party as his late brother.
The election was adjudged peacefully across all 10 wards; however, there were allegations and counter-allegations by the two political parties that took part in the elections.
