The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom, Tunde Doherty, has sympathised with Nigerians considering the country’s economic woes and the assured economic recovery under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tunde, who gave this assurance while speaking to the Tribune Online yesterday, said he has unshaken confidence in the president, who has been a risk-taker, economist, and accountant and has showcased economic management skills in terms of resource development.
The chairman stated that what is happening in Nigeria today is not limited to Nigeria; the whole world is suffering from economic malaise.
He noted that the economy has taken on a new dimension in the past few weeks as the President is planning the economy and it is coming up fully, urging Nigerians to support him.
The chairman assured that the country’s monolithic dependence on the oil economy would be forgotten as there would be investment in solid minerals and agriculture.
“I would only plead with Nigerians to be calm with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, considering the economic issues in the country.
“I have confidence in the person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. With him, I believe Nigeria is in safe hands because he is a risk-taker, an economist, and an accountant, and he is someone who has in the past showcased economic management skills in terms of resource development.
“What is happening in Nigeria today is not limited to Nigeria; the whole world is suffering from economic malaise as it is. Don’t forget the world is just getting healed from the coronavirus, the war in Ukraine, and Russia
“As we can see in the past few weeks, Asiwaju is planning the economy, and it is coming up fully. So, I want to urge Nigerians to support him.
“Our monolithic reliability in the oil economy is going to be something of the past because we will now be investing in solid minerals and agriculture.” He said.
Meanwhile, the chairman lamented that Nigerians are the ones suffering in Nigeria.
He questioned how manufacturers of cement, for instance, would sell above the price they sell when they take the product abroad.
Doherty said government is everyone, and the prime mover of government is the civil servants.
“Nigerians are the ones suffering the masses of Nigeria.
“Take, for instance, the cement that is manufactured in Nigeria; it is sold at a cheaper price outside of Nigeria, and that cement will be taken from Nigeria to those countries. The manufacturers of those products sell over 300 per cent of them in the country where they are produced.
“Government is all of us, and the prime mover of government is the civil servants,” Tunde noted.
