APC, PDP will collapse —APC chieftain

Former acting governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi

A former acting governor of Kogi State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Clarence Olafemi, on Tuesday said the APC and the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would collapse before the 2019 general election.

He said the lingering crises in the two major political parties had defied resolution, saying the end might be in sight for both parties.

Olafemi, who spoke in Lokoja, the state capital, regretted that every effort to resolve the crisis in the APC had not yielded any positive result.

The former speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly said as somebody that had played active parts in the two political parties, he was sure that both were drifting towards extinction.

“Having seen both the inside and outside of both parties at one time or the other, I made bold to say that both parties will break before the next General Election in 2019,” he stated.

Olafemi, however, noted that the registration of more political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had further increased the choice of the people expressed as it would afford them opportunities to make choices in the next dispensation.

The former speaker also noted that the crisis in the Kogi State chapter of the APC could still be resolved if those involved could shit ground.

He particularly advised the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to retrace his steps if he wanted to make any headway in the administration of the state.

He said, “One of the greatest mistakes of the governor was to have the impression that whoever criticizes him was his enemy and his aides were also not helping him as they were busy dropping his name everywhere.

“Governance everywhere is a serious business, his duty as a governor involves bringing all the warring factions in the state together instead of spending the states resources on unproductive venture such as wanting to recall Senator Dino Melaye.

“The governor is surrounded by a bunch of hypocrites and bunch of kindergarten advisers without political knowledge”.
