Immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has congratulated his successor, Nentawe Yilwatda, describing his emergence as timely and strategic for the future of the ruling party.
In a statement personally signed and released on Thursday, Ganduje, who was recently left the top party position, said the new chairman comes on board at a critical time when the APC requires strong leadership to consolidate on existing gains and drive the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda is strategic, coming at a critical time in the party,” he noted.
Ganduje, who served as Governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023, expressed unwavering confidence in Yilwatda’s capacity, intellect, maturity, and administrative competence to take the party forward.
He urged his successor to build upon the foundations and legacies laid during his tenure, while pledging his support and guidance in any capacity required.
The former APC chairman also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their pivotal roles in ensuring a smooth transition within the party’s national leadership structure.
“Our President and Vice President have once again shown maturity and far-sightedness in the affairs of our great party. Their commitment to ensuring cohesion and stability within the APC is commendable, and I urge all stakeholders to rally around the new leadership to deliver on the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
Ganduje called on members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Executive Committee (NEC), state party chapters, as well as the youth and women wings to cooperate fully with the new chairman.
He emphasised that unity, discipline, and loyalty must remain the party’s guiding principles under Yilwatda’s leadership, adding that these values are crucial to sustaining the APC’s strength and national relevance.
“As I bow out with a sense of fulfilment, I wish to assure Prof. Yilwatda of my unflinching support, counsel, and brotherly solidarity. I urge all our leaders, governors, lawmakers, and faithful party members across the federation to queue behind him and give him the necessary backing to consolidate on our party’s vision of building a united, progressive, and inclusive political platform for all Nigerians,” Ganduje said.
He also reiterated his commitment to the APC’s continued growth and Nigeria’s democratic advancement, promising to make himself available for party-related responsibilities when needed.
Ganduje concluded by offering prayers for his successor, asking for divine wisdom, strength, and courage for Yilwatda as he assumes leadership responsibilities at a time of great opportunity and national expectation.
