The Concerned Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara Central Senatorial District have called on party members to honour an agreement reached in 2019 to zone the 2027 governorship position to Kwara North Senatorial District.
The elders, led by Alhaji Abdullahi Hassan, expressed concern that Kwara Central has occupied the governorship seat for 20 years, while Kwara South had its turn for eight years. They believe it’s time for the pendulum to swing towards Kwara North.
“We pledged to support Kwara North’s aspiration for the governorship in 2027. We appeal to our fellow sons and daughters from Kwara Central to honor this agreement and lend their support to ensure Kwara North realizes its ambition,” Hassan said.
The elders cited the importance of zoning and rotational politics in the state, emphasising that it’s time for Kwara North to lead, leveraging their expertise and vision to drive development and progress.
They urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and other stakeholders to rein in ambitious individuals from Kwara Central who might attempt to renege on the commitment.
