A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Alhassan Yaryasa, has appealed to the Federal Government to intervene and reconstruct the collapsed Yaryasa Bridge in Tudun Wada Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State.
According to him, the appeal was necessary given the strategic importance of the bridge, which links Kano State with Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and parts of eastern Nigeria.
He noted that many residents in the area are farmers who can no longer transport their produce to various markets due to the collapse of the bridge.
“The Yaryasa Bridge links Kano State to other states, including Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and the eastern part of the country. Its collapse has severely affected economic activities,” he stated.
He continued: “We are appealing to the Federal Government to come to the aid of the communities living along the Kano–Tudun Wada road, as they have been cut off from the state capital and neighboring states.”

Yaryasa further disclosed that vehicles plying the road are now being diverted to an alternative route to avoid risks to lives and property.
He added that: “At the moment, officers from the Motor Traffic Division, along with personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), and members of the Transport Union, are on ground controlling motorists on both sides of the collapsed bridge.”
