The All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Senator Akintunde Yunus and Hon. Remi Oseni as its candidates for the Oyo Central and South Senatorial Districts.
The party is yet to announce the outcome of the primaries for the candidate who will fly the flag of the party in the Oyo North Senatorial District.
Two of the candidates jostling for the ticket are Professor Adeolu Akande and Mrs Hannah Ogunesan.
Our correspondent gathered from a party source that the screening committee only cleared Oseni and Yunus as sole candidates of the party in their respective districts.

“The Screening Committee only cleared Oseni and Yunus as the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.
“What happened at their respective districts on Monday is affirmation of candidates.
“On Oyo North Senatorial District, the result is yet to be made known.”
Meanwhile, there was a massive turnout of members as the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, on Monday conducted its senatorial district primaries for the selection of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, which took place simultaneously across the state, covered the three senatorial districts — Oyo South, comprising nine local government areas; Oyo Central with 11 local governments; and Oyo North with 13 local governments.
Its conduct, according to the stakeholders, is a testimony to what to expect during the governorship primaries.
Checks by our correspondent in the Oyo Federal Constituency, which comprises Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West and Afijio local government areas, revealed an impressive voter turnout as party members besieged designated voting centres as early as 7:00 a.m., despite varying commencement times across the state.
While voting commenced early in some councils, a few local governments delayed the exercise until about 3:00 p.m. to avoid disrupting academic activities in schools selected as venues for the primaries.
Despite the staggered commencement, the exercise remained largely peaceful, orderly and devoid of violence or major complaints, with party officials and security operatives maintaining calm throughout the process.
In Oyo Central Senatorial District, serving lawmaker, Yunus Akintunde, was seen participating in the exercise alongside hundreds of his supporters at Ward 10 in Oyo West Local Government Area.
Similar reports of peaceful conduct also emerged from Oyo South and Oyo North senatorial districts, where party members queued patiently to participate in the exercise.
The successful conduct of the primaries appears to reinforce the APC’s efforts at projecting internal cohesion and organisational discipline within the state chapter, especially amid heightened political activities ahead of the next election cycle.
Speaking earlier at the APC state secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Chairman of the APC National Assembly Primaries Election Committee for Oyo State, Prof. Mojeed Alabi, described the exercise as rancour-free and transparent.
Alabi, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, explained that the committee was mandated to supervise the conduct of the primaries across all wards in the 14 federal constituencies representing Oyo State in the House of Representatives.
According to him, the committee monitored the process across the various wards to ensure compliance with party guidelines and fairness to all aspirants.
“Our work is to superintend, collate, ensure that things are done properly and transmit our report to the national executive of the party,” he said.
“It is the national executive of the party that has the final authority to declare the results of the election.
“On our part, we have gone through the process and observed that there is no rancour anywhere. Our committee is equally conscious of the fact that another body is monitoring our own activities, so we cannot afford to let the party or the country down.
“We are determined to ensure transparency for all aspirants without fear or favour, affection or ill will, within the limits of available resources and logistics,” Alabi added.
