Over two thousand women in Anambra have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for a second term in office ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election in the state.
The endorsement was announced during the 2025 Anambra State Women Summit, convened by Lady Esther Onyekesi, the State Women Leader of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
The women, representing various political, tribal, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, expressed their support for Governor Soludo to enable him to complete the humanitarian and development projects he has already initiated across the 179 communities in the state.
“We are adopting governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo as our sole candidate because of his achievements in just two years and eleven months in office.
“Soludo has done tremendously well in all sectors of the economy, particularly, in the health and security sectors.Today, every pregnant woman in Anambra State irrespective of tribe, ethic and religion placement gets free antenatal in any government hospital of her choice, our children are going to school free of charge, and we now sleep with our two eyes closed, our youths are being trained and empowered free of charge through the one youth, two skills acquisition programme of the government.
“We, the women in Anambra State are calling on his co- contesters from other political parties to help consider stepping down for him (Soludo) to enable him to actualise his vision 2070 of making Anambra a clean, green, peaceful, secure, livable and prosperous homeland in Nigeria.
“We are using this summit to inform the public that, we are strongly behind the second-term ambition of Governor Soludo, the women noted.
Addressing the women, the governor’s wife, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo said what her husband’s administration has been able to achieve in the area of women empowerment so far is phenomenal and has greatly raised the living standard of women in the State to an enviable status.
She described women as nation builders which the society cannot do without, and commended them for their massive turnout which according to her, speaks volumes of their approval of the development model of her husband’s administration.
The Summit which took place at the APGA South East Regional Office in Awka, on Wednesday, with the Theme; Together We Rise: “Achieving the best through the women” also witnessed the presence of the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University COOU, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha, the State Chairman of APGA, Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, former State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ndidi Mezue, APGA supporters, among others.
