The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Somtochukwu Udeze, has congratulated the State Governor, Charles Soludo, on his victory in the just concluded All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship primary election.
Udeze said Soludo’s victory is a clear indication of the confidence Anambra people reposed in him and his purposeful administration, which has continued to benefit the entire citizenry in many ways.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Awka on Monday by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Emma Madu.

The Speaker expressed gratitude to APGA delegates from the three hundred and twenty-six electoral wards in the state who returned Governor Soludo unopposed, adding that their votes are enough motivation to Governor Soludo, who, he said, has distinguished himself among his colleagues in his efforts to equal Anambra with the few first-class states in Nigeria in terms of development.
He also expressed satisfaction that Governor Soludo could capture the hearts of Ndi Anambra through good governance and enjoined the larger electorate, irrespective of their party affiliations, to make November 8, 2025, an important date to record another political history in the state by ensuring that Governor Soludo is unanimously reelected.
He said that the state legislature has passed a vote of implicit confidence in Governor Soludo during his three years in office in view of his impressive development strides in the state, assuring that APGA will secure victory in all the thirty constituencies in the state in the forthcoming governorship election.
Also, a chieftain of the party in the state, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, in his message, described Soludo’s victory as well-deserved due to his appealing style of leadership, outstanding record of performance, unmatched popularity, and intimidating acceptability across the 179 communities that constitute Anambra State.
He said that the victory of Soludo was well anticipated as rightly predicted by the Anambra State Student’s Union, the sixty Soludo support groups, the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Youth Wing, ASATU Youths and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Anambra State Chapter, during their separate endorsement meetings, held at the International Conversation Center, Awka, a few days to the primary.
Onunkwo appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APGA Primary Election Committee, the security agencies, the media and all APGA supporters that turned out in large numbers for the electoral process.
He particularly thanked APGA members in the Anambra South Senatorial District for their continued prayers and support for Governor Soludo’s administration.
Onunkwo, who is aspiring to contest the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial District bye-election under the party’s platform to replace late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah at the National Assembly in Abuja, used the message to equally appeal to the people from the zone irrespective of political affiliation to close ranks with the governor in a bid to ensure that his vision of making Anambra a peaceful, secure, livable, and prosperous state in Nigeria is achieved.
Recall that the primary election was held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, in which Soludo was elected unopposed by the 3,260 delegates that participated in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ifeanyi Ibezi, has dumped his party for APGA to campaign for Governor Soludo.
Ibezi, who once represented the Idemili North and South federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said his decision is hinged on the unreadiness of the APC to win the forthcoming governorship election.
His decision was in protest of the victory of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu over other aspirants of the party, who are considered to be more polished and electable.
During a meeting in his country home in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area, Ibezi said he has switched his allegiance to the incumbent governor, insisting that Governor Soludo must be elected for a second term since his party was not ready to field an electable candidate.
During the meeting, Ibezim said, “We will start with the 710 polling units in Idemili North and South.
“The same way I delivered the zone to Tinubu in 2023, the same way I gave it to Soludo in the last election, that is how I will package the votes of the zone in November and deliver it to Soludo.
“Soludo must go for a second term. I went on inspection of his projects, and I know he is doing well. If your party is not doing well, what will you do? is it not to switch support to a better party?
“Do you want to be stagnated for the next eight years? I know what to do, If you have been my follower all these years and you have not learned politics, then you are not intelligent. I will advise you to stop coming to political meetings in my house.
“Our support will move immediately to Soludo.”
