A governorship Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the Nov 18th Governorship election in Anambra State, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah on Tuesday formally rejected Chief Oseloka Obaze as the flag bearer of the Party and opted to head for Court of law for reversal, alleging that the Party’s primary which produced was a fraud.
Speaking with News men in Abuja yesterday on the development, Ubah who is also the Chairman of Capital Oil lamented that he was taken aback how Obaze could be cleared and declare as the Party’ flag bearer for the election despite his (Ubah) petition to the Party’s Electoral Appeal Committee that sat over the outcome of the party’s Primary Conducted by the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi Which took place on August 27th this year.
Ubah disclosed that the only option that could stop his legal action against the Party was for the Senator Ahmed Makarfi to do the needful and correct the anomaly that took place during the primary which the Electoral Committee refused to take notice
He alleged that apart from the glaring fact that the delegate list used by the Electoral Committee was different from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s certified Copy, Obaze did not get a waiver to participate in the exercise in line with the Party’s Constitution.
Ubah insisted that the man who was eventually declared as the Party’s flag bearer only got a provisional waiver and that the National Executive Committee, NEC which was the only authority that could grant a waiver for that purpose was yet to hold any meeting and wonder how Obaze was cleared without a waiver.
According to him,” am heading for Court to resolve this matter, this impunity must stop, I have to fight out because of the future, we must learn to obey our Party; rules and Constitution
‘I have exhausted all internal mechanism to resolve this matter and I have even went further, I consulted widely, I contacted nearly all the members of the Board of Trustee, BOT of the Party, party leaders and others and I have to take the litigation option when it clears to me that there will be no fair resolution “.
Ubah denied his alleged membership of the Labour Party, LP as at the time he contested for the Party’s primary under the PDP, saying that he duly left the Labour Party and challenged anybody with contrary view or evidence to come out with such.
The Electoral Committee Appeal Panel had thrown out Ubah’s petition and upheld Obaze’s election which also endorsed by the National Caretaker Committee, NCC, of the Party.
