Anambra guber: Muoghalu, Nwosu scale LP’s hurdles for April 5 primaries

The Labour Party (LP) has cleared two aspirants, Chief George Muoghalu and Sir John Nwosu, for its April 5 primary election, where the party’s flagbearer for the November Anambra governorship poll will be selected.

LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Obiora Ifoh, announced in a statement on Saturday that the screening was conducted on Friday by a panel chaired by the Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon George Ozodinobi. The panel subsequently submitted its report to the party leadership.

Ozodinobi commended the aspirants for their commitment to the party and their track records, assuring them of a fair and transparent selection process.

“We will work according to the laid-down rules and assure you of the highest level of transparency throughout the selection process. Our goal is to approach the election as a united house, without rancour. It will be a brotherly contest, and we expect every member to rally behind our flagbearer in the mission to secure victory for the Labour Party and advance the progress of Anambra State,” he stated.

Muoghalu, a politician, administrator, and business executive, has previously served as the National Secretary of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), among other roles.

Nwosu, an IT expert and global business entrepreneur, was a Director in the 2023 ObiDatti Presidential Campaign Council.
