In a significant development that is set to reshape the political landscape of Anambra, Valentine Ozigbo, a former governorship aspirant of the Labour Party, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On reason for leaving the Labour Party, Ozigbo said it was due to the ongoing leadership crisis within the party, which he claimed weakened its effectiveness and hindered his vision for a better Anambra.
He disclosed this in a tweet on Thursday.
“After deep reflection and broad consultations, I withdrew my membership from the Labour Party yesterday.
“Recent developments within LP – mainly the ongoing leadership crisis – weakened its effectiveness, making it clear that my vision for a better and brighter Anambra must take a different path.
“As I remain committed to the pursuit of good governance and the progress of Ndi Anambra,” he wrote.
Ozigbo’s move to the APC, according to analysts, is seen as a strategic step ahead of the 2025 governorship election in Anambra. His decision is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s political landscape, especially given his popularity and influence among the electorate.
