Anambra 2025: APC aspirant, Chukwuma, dismisses alleged money laundering case

A leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the November 8th, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has dismissed an alleged money laundering case reported against him by Sahara Reporters.

He said the reported case cannot intimidate his ambition of becoming the next governor of the state in the upcoming November 8th, 2025 gubernatorial election, noting that the allegation was a plot to distract him.

Sir Chukwuma, who dismissed the allegation while briefing journalists at his Umueri country home in the Anambra East Local Government Area on Thursday, appealed to the public to disregard the publication.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the aspirant was reacting to a recent story published by Sahara Reporters quoting a Federal High Court in Abuja making a significant ruling, ordering the temporary forfeiture of $378,000 and a luxury vehicle, a Mercedes Benz GLS 600 Maybach, to the Nigerian Government.

The money and the vehicle, allegedly said to be proceeds of unlawful activities, were linked to Sir Paul Chukwuma, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fides Et Ratio Academy Limited.

According to the report, the decision was made by Justice Emeka Nwite after the counsel for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Osuobeni Akponimisingha, presented a motion ex-parte.

Speaking further on the allegation, Sir Chukwuma alleged that the publication was a plot by some unpatriotic elements to distract his vision and agenda for the good people of Anambra State.

“My image cannot be tarnished. We know the people behind this, and I’m committed to fixing the face of Anambra.”

“I can’t allow unpatriotic elements to stop me from contesting the forthcoming Anambra governorship election. I can never be intimidated by anybody. As far as I am concerned, I will contest the election, win my party primaries, and the general election at large. I have worked in different companies for the past 20 years without any negative record against me. Why should it be now that I am contesting the election to liberate my people from the challenges of insecurity and hardship? There is a witch-hunt component element in that alleged publication. Also, I don’t believe that the report is coming from the ICPC, and if it does, then the country is in trouble,” the aspirant frowned.

Chukwuma expressed confidence that if given the APC ticket, he would defeat the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
