Alumnus donates projects, items to Islamic High School Orita-Basorun

PROJECTS donated by an old student of Islamic High School, Orita-Basorun, Ibadan, Mr Dayo Akinyemi (1989 set), were, on Tuesday, inaugurated, at the school to mark his 50th birthday anniversary.

The inauguration was presided over by Mr Lukman Okesade, a representative of the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology.

The projects were two renovated classrooms and one staff room.

Additionally, Akinyemi donated 60 pairs of students’ furniture, 10 teachers’ tables, 30 teachers’ chairs, five new laptops, 10 drums and four dozens of kettles to the school while he also carried out repairs and installation of new accessories for 15 computers.

The projects and the donated items were estimated at N6 million.

The donor promised the provision of school uniform, bags and shoes for 25 promising students, as well as yearly scholarship awards for overall best students in each class.

He offered to provide credible mentoring links for science students to be able to complete with their counterparts across the world.

People who attended the event included the national president of the school’s old students’ association, Mr Lekan Popoola; his immediate predecessor, Professor Ishaq Omotosho; the National Secretary, Mr Lateef Lawal; the school’s governing board chairman, Dr Ismaila Razaq; the principal, Mr Fasasi Abdullah and other members of the 1989 set.
