Unoma Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has filed lawsuits against the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, alleging defamation and violation of fundamental human rights.
The Senate President’s wife is demanding the sum of 250 billion naira compensation over allegations of sexual harassment against her husband.
Mrs. Akpabio, in the first suit (Suit No: CV/814/25) focusing on fundamental rights violation, contends that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent statements have caused emotional distress and fear for her and her children’s safety.
Aside from the N250 billion compensation, she also seeks a declaration from the court that these statements violate her dignity under the Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and additionally, a perpetual injunction to prevent further damaging claims.
In a separate defamation suit (Suit No: CV/816/25), Mrs. Akpabio challenges Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s assertion that the Senate President made sexual advances towards her. She labels these allegations as false, malicious, and damaging to her family’s reputation, requesting a public apology in national newspapers and N1 billion in damages.

“The allegations have inflicted immense pain and emotional suffering on me and my family,” Mrs. Akpabio stated in the lawsuit.
The court has yet to schedule a hearing for both cases.
As the rift between the Kogi Senator and the Senate President get messier, recall the dispute arose change in seating arrangements at the senate which led to a shouting match between Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio, Tribune Online reports.
Following the outburst, the Senate referred her case to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for investigation.
Tribune Online reports that Senator Nathasha, while on Arise TV programme on Friday, said her trouble in the Red Chamber started after refusing sexual advances, allegedly from Akpabio, a claim which Akpabio’s wife countered, saying her husband “is sexually disciplined.”
