Alleged rape : Court remands three students in Police custody in Ondo

Three students of the Ondo State School of Health Technology, Akure who allegedly gang raped a student of the school were on Monday, arraigned before an Akure Magistrate court.

The three accused person which include Adeboboye Damilola, Blessing Michael and Eyitayo Charles were arrested some two weeks ago after the victim reported the incident.

Apart from the rape case against the three students, they were also alleged to have raped a student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure and attempted to have carnal knowledge of another lady, Miss Oladele Damilola.

The accused were also alleged to have robbed one Israel Segun and one Adedayo Foluso of money, handsets and laptops at gunpoint before the rape incident which happened at the Barrister Lodge, Olofinlade Layout, Oda Road, Akure.

They were arraigned on eight-count charge which bothers on armed robbery, rape, illegal possession of fire arms and cultism.

The police prosecutor,  Abdulateef Suleiman prayed the court to remand the accused persons in prison custody but the Counsel to the first and third defendants, Banjo Ayelakin and Mr. Olutoye Adeyanju respectively objected the application, arguing that applications were served some few minutes before the proceedings

The Counsels, however, prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable them study the application properly.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs. Victoria Bob-Manuel admitted the prayer of the Counsels and however ordered the three accused to be remanded in police custody till September 5, 2019, for mention.
