Alleged land dispute between Osogbo, Ede town untrue, falsehood – Monarch

Claims from various quarters in Osun State suggesting that the communities of Ede and Osogbo are in conflict over portions of their boundary land were dispelled on Friday, as the monarchs of both towns described the allegations as false and untrue.

At a meeting involving the Timi-in-Council and Ataoja-in-Council, the royal fathers reaffirmed the strong relationship between the two communities, vowing to sustain it without any form of discord or conflict.

During the meeting, held at the Ataoja Palace in Osogbo, the monarchs emphasized the enduring mutual relationship between the two towns, urging the public to disregard the claims of land disputes.

They pledged to uphold the existing harmonious relationship, ensuring that division and disunity do not affect their bond.

The Timi of Edeland, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, said, “We are here today to clear air concerning allegations against us in Ede on the social media. The allegations are untrue.”

He continued, “I am very happy with what we have heard today. Osogbo people have expressed their commitment to peace.

We are for peace in Ede. The two communities are so closely knitted that we must maintain the peace we inherited from our fathers”.

He added, “Media should help us communicate with the people that Osogbo and Ede are together. We must maintain the peace we inherited from their forefathers. We are for peace”.

Similarly, the Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, Laaroye II, stated, “This meeting between myself, Ataoja,  Ataoja-in-Council and Timi of Ede, Timi-in-Council is to calm nerves about any alleged land dispute or rising tension of land dispute”.

He emphasized, “The two towns share a historical relationship that no one, under any political guise, can destroy.”
