The National Youth Committee of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) on Thursday expressed deep concern over recent false and defamatory statements by Rights Activists Omoyele Sowore against the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, which was signed by its Coordinator, Engr. Junaid Olatunji Victor, PCRC gave Sowore a 7-day ultimatum within which to retract their unguarded statements against the FPPRO.
It demanded that Sowore should, within the seven-day ultimatum, publicly apologize to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and retract the defamatory statements through the same media channels in which they were originally made.

It declared that, “Failure to comply with this demand will compel the PCRC National Youth Committee to take further action, including exposing the individuals and foreign interests allegedly sponsoring Mr Sowore’s actions, whose sole objective appears to be the destabilisation of Nigeria and the erosion of confidence in its security institutions.
“During a recent protest led by Mr Sowore in the company of some retired police officers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, he falsely accused ACP Adejobi of being involved in the alleged disappearance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) eyeglasses.
“These allegations are entirely baseless, malicious, and lack any factual foundation. They not only seek to impugn the character of a disciplined and highly regarded officer, but also aim to demoralise the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and undermine public trust in the institution.
“Such irresponsible claims are unbecoming of anyone in public life, especially someone of Mr Sowore’s prominence.
“This is part of a calculated effort to discredit the Nigeria Police Force and disrupt the stability of our national security architecture”.
The statement affirmed that PCRC remained unwavering in its support for the Nigeria Police Force and would continue to uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and mutual trust between the police and the communities they serve.
