The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ogun State branch, has urged the federal government to specify the job descriptions of each health professionals to promote excellence healthcare services.
The Association stated this in view of various incidence of alleged attacks on doctors in the state by nurses.
The NMA state chairman, Dr Ogunjimi Luqman, while addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, on Thursday, disclosed that his members are subject of attacks in the hands of nurses in the state.
This, he said, if not addressed decisively, posed a threat to the decorum with which doctors in the state have been conducting their affairs.
Ogunjinmi added that sustained aggression against doctors endangered professional standards, institutional order and patient safety.

Ogunjinmi expressed worries over what he described as a growing pattern of intimidation directed at doctors, with reference to a recent incident that happened at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.
He narrated that a nursing student of the Neuropsychiatric Hospital School was allegedly recruited by a Senior nursing officer to undermine the Head of Clinical Services of the hospital, Dr Majekodunmi.
“The Nigerian Medical Association, Ogun State branch, is deeply concerned about a seemingly orchestrated and choreographed string of sustained aggression aimed at doctors in the state by senior nursing personnel who recently appear to have recruited nursing students to deliberately provoke doctors in the course of performing their duties, so they can capitalise on the reactions of the doctors to such irritating provocations.
“We call on the federal ministry of health, regulatory agencies, professional bodies, and the general public to support transparent and accountable leadership in our hospitals.
“It is imperative that all health workers are held to equal standards of professionalism and discipline, without exception,” the NMA added
