Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh land dispute: Panel adopts resolutions

The Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh land dispute panel sitting in Warri, Delta State has adopted some resolutions which include the resolve  that the peace accord between the two communities witnessed by the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police shall be maintained and respected.

They also include free access and movement  between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities as well as Aladja and Isaba communities, while the people’s farming and fishing activities within these communities shall be allowed to go on without hindrance.

All the parties also promised to cooperate with the  panel in the demarcation and survey of the boundary between Udu and Warri South-West  Local Government Areas as well as the survey and demarcation of the extent of the land in dispute between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities.

Earlier, the Chairman of the panel, Professor Abednego Ekoko, at the inaugural sitting, assured the two communities that the panel would live up to its expectation by ensuring impartiality, fairness and firmness in its proceedings.

He, however, warned that the panel would not succumb to any acts of intimidation or subversive influence in the course of its duties even as he reminded the feuding communities of the role of the panel in promoting peace and harmony and to finally put to an end the intractable dispute between them.

In their separate remarks, the Youth President of Aladja Community, Onatombre Wisdom and his Ogbe-Ijoh counterpart, Christmas James, assured the panel of their maximum support and cooperation during their sittings.
