AL-MU’MINAAT (The Believing Women Organisation), Oyo State chapter, has commemorated its 30th anniversary with a series of impactful humanitarian and community-focused initiatives across the state.
The week-long celebration began with a special outreach to the Wabillahi Taofeek Muslim Association for Visually Impaired Students at Orita Aperin, Ibadan.
During the visit, the Amira (leader) of the organisation, Hajiya Rafat Bakrin, encouraged the students, emphasising their potential to contribute meaningfully to society despite visual impairment.
“In Islam, there is no such thing as a useless human being. The contributions of Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum, a blind companion of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), to the growth of Islam are remarkable. With steadfastness and commitment to goodness, you too can positively impact the world,” she said.
On August 17, the organisation hosted a professional forum across the cities of Ibadan, Oyo and Ogbomoso, under the theme: ‘Building a Formidable Home’.
Guest speakers at the forum, including Hajiya Toyibat Abdul Salaam, Dr Sekinat Aderoju and Hajiya Jemilat Kalejaiye, encouraged Muslim women to strike a balance between their professional lives and family responsibilities, noting that a peaceful and well-managed home is the bedrock of a strong and productive society.
As part of its media engagement, Al-Mu’minaat paid a courtesy visit to Solutions FM, Ibadan.
Speaking during the visit, the state secretary, Hajiya Kafayat Ajani, urged journalists to continue amplifying stories that promote women’s empowerment and community development.
The anniversary activities culminated in a medical outreach on September 6 at Omi Central Mosque, in Ido Local Government Area, conducted in collaboration with Daimen Foundation Belgium.
The programme provided free medical consultations and medication to over 200 beneficiaries.
Hajiya Rafat Bakrin called for increased collaboration between Muslim organisations, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to expand the reach and impact of humanitarian services in Oyo State and beyond.
“As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we call for stronger partnerships with Muslim groups, NGOs such as Daimen Foundation and other stakeholders across Nigeria. Together, we can enhance our efforts and better serve humanity,” she said.
