The Ebira Youth Leaders Forum has passed a vote of no confidence on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, over her recent allegations against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The forum’s president, Engr Otomio Abdullahi, made this known during a press conference in Abuja, stating that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions were unbecoming and contradictory to the values of the Ebira people, who are known for being orderly, decent, and respectful.
Abdullahi urged for a thorough investigation into the allegations, to be conducted discreetly and without undue influence or interference.
He emphasised that the forum’s decision was not motivated by ethnic or tribal sentiments, but rather a desire to protect the integrity of the Senate and the image of the Ebira people.
“That her upcoming investigation by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions on ground of her unruly behaviour be carried out discreetly without undue influence or interference.
“That way, the right signal will be sent that the Hallowed Chamber is not a place for rabble-rousers who are scavenging for opportunity to impugn on the integrity and hard-earned image of others to score cheap political points.
“If found guilty, adequate punishment should be meted to her, including suspending her if need be. As her constituents, we will not hesitate to activate the instrument of the law to initiate her recall process at the right time.”
The vote of no confidence comes ahead of the Senate’s Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions’ inquiry into the allegations, scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
