Akeredolu solicits support for community development

Ondo state governor,  Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has called on private individuals in the state to contribute to the development of their immediate environment, saying this would go a long way to complement the efforts of the state government.

Akeredolu who stated this in Ondo in Ondo West local government area of the state, during the official inauguration of the Suncity FM station in Ondo, said this will help to open employment opportunities for the unemployed youths in the state.

Akeredolu who was represented by the Commissioner for Information and orientation, Mr Yemi Olowolabi, pointed out that “it is only by doing this that the government can save huge sums of money for development”

He commended the efforts of the Odunwo of Ondo Kingdom, High Chief Olabanji Akingbule, for his vision in establishing the radio station and urged the management of the new station to ensure that its programmes are tailored towards improving the quality of life of the people.

He also called on the people in the region to show interest in the station’s programmes and give meaningful contributions for its sustenance of the radio station.

The governor advised staff of the new radio station to create a positive image for the corporation by ensuring that they are objective in their news reportage, saying the government considers the FM station as a partner in the development of the state.

He called on the station to promote business of the people of the state, urging the station to educate the people on topical issues that are of concern to the people and the state

He stated that the establishment of the FM confirmed the city status conferred on Ondo recently, saying with the station Ondo city will soon be a haven for local and foreign investors.

The governor reiterated the readiness of his administration to always partner with privates and corporate organizations that are ready to add value to the state.

He described High Chief Akingbule as a legend and philanthropist per excellent who he said has made valuable contributions towards the development of his hometown and the state in general.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Managing Director of Legbe Communications, Mr Oluranti Akingbule, said the idea of establishing the radio station in the community was aimed towards educating, orienting and disseminating undiluted information to the people of the town and beyond.

He solicited for the supports of the Ondo state government in making the radio station to meet up with the aims and objectives for which it was established and stated that the radio station will always be ready to partner with the state government to move the state forward.

He further reiterated the readiness of the radio station to be purely independent and neutral without any political colouration, but open to the promotion of governmental efforts in the development of both people and the society at large.
