Ajongbolo Gideon, a rising figure in Nigeria’s digital entrepreneurship space, has spoken out against the country’s worsening economic conditions, calling for bold and visionary leadership to steer the nation toward a more sustainable future.
Gideon, known for his success in network marketing and freelance consulting, expressed concern over the rising inflation, subsidy cuts, and looming tax hikes that continue to burden millions of Nigerians. His remarks come as the inflation rate surged to 24.2% in March 2025—up from 23.2% in February—tightening household budgets and escalating the cost of essentials such as food, transportation, and energy.
“Every week, I see more friends and neighbors struggling to afford basic needs,” Gideon said. “The cost of living is outpacing wages, and ordinary Nigerians are paying the price for decisions they didn’t make. We need a better Nigeria—one led by vision and compassion.”
Recent government measures, including a 35% cut in electricity subsidies and the potential implementation of a 12.5% value-added tax by 2026, have drawn widespread criticism for disproportionately affecting low-income households. Additionally, proposed U.S. tariffs on Nigerian exports threaten industrial growth and further economic instability.
Gideon emphasized that leadership must prioritize human welfare over short-term gains. “Our country’s potential is immense,” he noted. “But without strong, forward-thinking leadership, we risk losing sight of the future we deserve.”
His message has resonated across social and economic circles, echoing the growing demand for inclusive governance, targeted reforms, and a renewed focus on the everyday struggles of Nigerians.
