Truce reached by the Oyo State government and management of Ayefele Music House was cemented as proprietor of Music House, Mr Yinka Ayefele, on Tuesday, paid a “thank you” visit to Governor Abiola Ajimobi over the reconstruction of his House.
Tuesday’s visit was a final consolidation of an agreement reached between the two parties after the August 19, 2018, partial demolition of Music House, Ibadan, by the Oyo State government for contravention of the approved building plan.
It would be recalled that government had said that its intervention in the reconstruction was informed by the acknowledgement of contravention of the state building code by the management of the Music House and the personal appeal by Ayefele to Ajimobi.
Among others, the joint committee of the two parties had recommended that the frontage of the building be remodelled to become the back of the building, while the former back of the building be converted to the frontage.
The two parties have also agreed to the reduction of the frontage fence line by 1.5m, while the parking lots at the tail end of the building close to the entrance of Lagelu Estate will be reduced by 10.9m to allow visibility.
As agreed, the remodelling includes the erection of grill fence to ensure visibility including the building of a staircase at the basement to access the studio.
Ayefele, in his “thank you” message, which was also formally done, appreciated Ajimobi for being compassionate and wiping away his sorrow.

“We say a big thank you to our father, a great leader, a great example to this generation and to also appreciate the good people working the governor especially the committee constituted that worked on the partial demolition of Music House.
“On a compassionate ground, His Excellency helped me personally because I have been down emotionally since the incident but I thank God for a day like this that God through His Excellency, has wiped away my sorrow,” Ayefele said.
In his remarks, Ajimobi lauded the great role played by Ayefele in facilitating collaboration between the two parties that brought about the rebuilding and remodelling of Music House.
He reiterated that the decision of the government to assist in rebuilding the house was because the State Bureau of Physical Planning and Development Control established that Music House contravened urban planning regulation and stated building plan.
Though he noted Ayefele’s contribution as an entrepreneur to the society, Ajimobi said the government still had to promote adherence to the rule of law as well as peace and security.
He harped on the importance of the working relationship between government and entrepreneurs but noted that the rule of law must be upheld.
This is as he asserted commitment of the state government to enhancing safety and socioeconomic value of Oyo residents.
