Ajimobi, Eleyele River is crying for tourism inputs

Nigeria is blessed with a lot of natural potentials that can aid the development of the country and create employment opportunities but the problem is how to manage those potentials. Tourism is a good source of income and a means of development.

Tourism is the pride of the nation but most states in Nigeria do not show concern when it comes to the development of tourism sites.

Many countries depend more on tourism to develop the economy of their countries. Part of the importance of tourism is that it promotes culture and brings about unity between countries.

Also when it comes to education tourism is not lacking, it educates and increases the knowledge of people about different things.

A good example of a tourism site that is lagging behind is Eleyele river in Ibadan. If the river can be developed it will reduce unemployment and also boost the economy of the state.

Eleyele river is a good opportunity for the government to utilise properly, Eleyele river can be turned to a resort where people go to enjoy, relax, recreate and even events can be held there.It can also be used for water sport,kayakin, fishery, etc.

Eleyele river is an eco-tourism site that is supposed to be a pride to the state and also a great source of income.

If Eleyele river is developed to an international standard it will attract tourists from other states and even other countries, which will enhance foreign exchange,but unfortunately, it is only functioning when it comes to transport and fishing which little amount is charged.

The operator managing the water transport is from Lagos and the boats available are not up to six in number They transport people from Eleyele to Alakuta in Apere,Ologuneru and other places at low prices.

There is a are tick tree plantation that surrounds the water and provide shade, which make the environment cool at all time. Part of the area covered by the plantation should be used for construction of resort, which will be generating income for the state. At the resort, art and crafts of various designs will be manufactured and sells to people and which will people; will be gainfuly employed through this.

Talking about the road to the river it is not too good,the environment is so dirt, the muddy road is almost impassable and the market is so dirty and it is always smelling of fufu,garri and other waste product.There are shops where people say fufu,palm oil,garri etc.Also the environment is used by mechanics and cars are parked there.

There are hyacinth on the water that does not pave way for free flow of water and do not give easy movement of water to all areas which the operator said if it is cleared their are some places the boat will be going. If Eleyele river is developed it will stop or reduce the rate of water accident.
