Ajimobi charges Corps members to embrace self-development skills

NO fewer than 2,000 Corps members have been formally sworn-in in Oyo state for the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Orientation exercise.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at the National Youth Service Corps Permanent Orientation Camp, Ogbakuta, Iseyin on Thursday, the governor who was represented by the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Abayomi Oke, urges the Corps members to make judicious use of the 1 year scheme in acquiring self development skills for their personal and future goals.

“As a result of the alarming rate of unemployment among our graduate youths, I urge you all to embrace the robust training which the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) will offer and key into what the programme entails,” he said.

The Oyo State NYSC coordinator, Mrs Ifeoma Anidobi in her welcoming speech also reiterated the need for Corps members to take cognisance of the NYSC scheme, especially its skill acquisition aspect.

She said, “Corps members are enjoined to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) because it is a critical programme of the NYSC management.

“You are to take full advantage of the training which is meant to equip you with a skill for gainful self-employment after service year.”

The State coordinator further stressed that Oyo State is happy to host Corps members deployed to Ogun and Kwara State respectively.

“This is the first time in history an orientation camp would be hosting corps members deployed to more than one state for the orientation exercise.” She said.
